What a Month (or so...)
Posted by thealmightym
So this year has been.. eventful. I managed to get the flu twice last month and in between, there was a death in the family. So yeah, April was pretty rough...
This week I'm attending the wedding of a couple of friends (congrats to Bill and Ashley!), so I made sure to get this page done in time for the update for you guys! Why the lack of shading, however? Well, Tsi has had her own family tragedy (her grandfather passed away as well), so she's out of town with her family to pay their respects and say goodbye). Send her your hugs and best wishes if you have a sec.
We've also been working on getting her next comic started (it's kind of been eating Crystal's brain as most good ideas are known to do). Keep an eye out for the launch of Skyborne!

Where my pages at?
Posted by thealmightym
Ok, so this year has gotten off on the wrong foot. For the past month and a half I've been stressing out about the comic and conventions and wedding planning... hopefully Katsucon will kick me out of the rut!
By the way, I'll be at Katsucon this weekend! We just got our table assignments the other day, so stop by J17 (next to the cosplay photo area) and say hullo to me!

I got a fancy new banner, so I should stick out a bit more. A lot of prep for this show came down to the wire, but it looks like everything's going to work out just fine (phew!). See you there!!

Delays and RSS Feeds
Posted by thealmightym
First off, this year has clearly not gotten off on the right foot as far as comics go. I've been totally unmotivated to work on anything as of late (part of which I think can be attributed to wedding planning stress. Pirate weddings are expensive!). Going to try and make a push to get back in the groove of things over the course of next week. In the meantime, have some dialogue and flat coloring to go along with that lineart from a while back.
Aspect is currently on a short hiatus, but only as far the main story goes. To make up for it, though, Tsi is updating DAILY with the 24 hour comic she made! Make sure you check it out!
And finally, we've at last integrated automatic RSS updates to the site! If you were already subscribed, there should be no need to resubscribe as I've already updated FeedBurner with the new link. If you haven't subscribed... well, you better get on that, huh?
Katsucon is about a month away and, as I've mentioned before, I got a table! Due to that pirate wedding I mentioned, it'll probably be the only show I'm at this year.
Thank you all for your patience! I promise things will get back to normal soon.

Last Comic of 2012
Posted by thealmightym
Well, I slacked off during the whole Xmas season (I'm still finishing up the last gift I have to give x.x) so this is a page in progress. I'm going to try and get this done before the end of the year which shouldn't be too hard what with the four-day weekend my dayjob has granted me (huzzah!). Hope you all have had a fantastic holiday and here's to the start of an AWESOME 2013!

Delayed Page
Posted by thealmightym
Hey guys! Tsi is still working on getting the page done (she was feeling a bit under the weather) so here's the in progress page so you can still see some of the story! Also, Tsi has take the time to add the chapter break images that we made for the book. Hope you like them and we'll have the finished page up for you soon!

Free Holiday Cards
Posted by thealmightym
Last year, I send out holiday cards to friends, family, and anyone who asked for them! I had so much fun making the cards and sending them out, that I decided to do it again. With Crystal's help, Wayward Studios is now offering this year's card to all of you out there!
All you have to do is provide an address we can mail the cards do and we'll handle the rest. No tricks, no gimmicks, just a way for us to say thank you for following our work and supporting us!
Quantities are limited, so let us know sooner rather than later!

Conventions, Reviews, and Cards
Posted by thealmightym
So, this next Saturday (December 8th) is the second annual Tigercon, a FREE anime convention hosted at Towson University. I managed to get a table last year and I'm happy to say I'll be there again! I'll have books, prints, bookmarks, buttons, sketches or you can just stop by and say hi! Besides, it's a free show, so why WOULDN'T you go, amirite?
Also just confirmed is an appearance at Katsucon 19 on February 15-17 of next year. It'll be my first time tabling this HUGE show, but I've been attending it for a few years now. If you don't make it to Tigercon, I really hope you'll drop by at this show as it'll likely be the only one I'm able to do for 2013 (have I mentioned I'm getting married next year?).
Jikoshia is now listed on Amazon! It looks like they haven't gotten the copies stocked yet, but they'll be available for purchase soon! In the meantime, would you all be dears and put in a review for me? It would be greatly appreciated!
OH! And one MORE thing! For the past couple of years, I've been putting together holiday cards to send out to anyone and everyone who asks for them. I'm going to have the design for this year's card done this week (follow me on DeviantArt to see it when it's done) and will mail them out as soon as the cards are printed. If you want one, simply email me/tweet me/facebook me/or whatever with an address I can send it to. No joke, I'm not selling anything, it's just my way of saying thanks to my friends and readers for sticking with me this past year.
Later gators!

New Stuff!
Posted by thealmightym
By now, you've probably noticed there's something different about Jikoshia today. Coud it be that the layout has change? Did the page get bigger? Does chapter 2 look like it goes a facelift? If you guessed all three, you'd be correct!
I decided to revamp the site in favor of enlarging the pages. Since I had to go back and resave all the pages anyway in order to do this, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to swap out the old chapter 2 pages for the ones that are now in the book (available through the store, for anyone looking to purchase a copy).
As is the case with any new layout, if you find a bug, shoot me a message so I can get it fixed. Thanks for reading and I hope you like the new design!

One show down...
Posted by thealmightym
Oh man! What a great weekend it was! I got to hang out with Tsi (have I mentioned we haven't been in the same time zone in like 5 years?), I got my books in, I got to meet TONS of people at SPX... Thank you everyone who stopped by the table to check out our stuff!
Didn't make it to SPX? You're in luck! Tsi will be making an appearance at Jet City this weekend and I'll be back in DC for Intervention. I'll be at table 22 (back in the corner, hangout out next to the folks from Guilded Age and caddy corner from Dominic Deegan, oh yeah!). See you there!

Countdown to SPX
Posted by thealmightym
Just two weeks until SPX! All my books/bookmarks/pins/prints have been ordered and are on their way! We've been assigned a table and are making travel plans. Tsi's got her tickets and then, for the first time in 6 years, we'll be in the same room!

Can't make it to SPX? Don't forget I'll be at Intervention and Tsi will be at Jet City the weekend after! Hope to see you all soon!

I Need You (to complete your surveys)!
Posted by thealmightym
Hey guys! How's it hangin? Me? I'm busy finishing up the Jikoshia book. Just a few pages left to go, some extras to put together, and we're good. I do, however, need something from my Kickstarter backers.
In the rewards, I state that everyone pledging $15 or more will have his or her name in the book. In order to send the book off to print, I need those names. I sent out surveys to everyone except the $50 tier (because I'm only allowed to send out one survey and I need to finish the prints before I can send those out) and messaged the people in that tier. If you backed Jikoshia, please fill out your survey ASAP so I can send this thing off to the printer! Otherwise, I will have to go with your name as it's listed on my backer report (and some of these are just first names or usernames). Thanks again for your help! I can wait to show you all the final product!

Kickstarter Updates!
Posted by thealmightym
I've been SO busy getting the book done in time for SPX I have had very little time to sleep, let alone have time to think of things to post here! Just a few pages left to draw, the rest need to be colored, and then I get to spend my time creating the rest of the rewards I promised. Not complaining about any of this, I'm just excited to finally be getting these things done and sent to the people who asked for them!
In other news, I think I have a Kickstarter addiction. There are so many FANTASTIC comic projects on their right now. First there's reMIND book 2
I missed out on the first campaign for book one, but still managed to snag a copy once they became available. Story and art aside (which really should be more than enough to make anyone want this book), the book itself is just so pretty to look at and hold. One day, I will publish a comic as high quality as reMIND.
Then there's Shadowbinders
I discovered this comic more recently than reMIND. It has a pretty similar feel to Jikoshia where a young girl finds a way to another world. It's a ton of fun and I think it's worth your money too.
Now, I'm not plugging these comics because I was asked to. I'm recommending them as someone who has already pledged towards these projects. I even got my sister to back them (and if you knew my sister, you would be impressed!). Take a moment, check out the campaigns, and help these books come to be!

It's Time to PAR-TAY!
Posted by thealmightym
No comic page today (it's Thursday, come on!), but I do have something I'd like to say to you all. Today marks my 28th year on this planet, but more importantly:
It's the 10th anniversary of Jikoshia going online.
(What? I'm bad with dates so I launched it on a day I'd never forget!)
10 years ago, Jikoshia debuted on good ol' Keenspace (now Comic genesis). It was black and white, drawn on normal copy paper, and HORRIBLE. I'd show you guys, but those original pages were lost when I moved cross country.
A few years later, I was gifted with a webhost of my own to customize as I wish. I rebooted the comic, upping the quality ever so much as I could and making the story just a little more coherent. It was a rough time for the comic, full of plenty of hiatuses and excuses
Then I had a change of scenery. A trip to Baltimore presented new opportunities for both me and the comic. I decided to reboot one more time to what is the comic you read today. I formed Wayward Studios with my old college buddy. I hooked up with a local group of creators to create Square City Comics. And, more recently, I've gotten engaged to one hell of a guy.
As I look back on how far I've come both in life and in the comic, I can't help but be grateful. Grateful to all the friends who have encouraged me and pushed me to keep going. To all the old readers who have stuck with me through the whole thing. To the new readers just coming across the comic for the first time. Even to to people with harsh critiques of my work who have inspired me over the years to rethink my work and push it ever further to something greater than it was before. Thanks, all of you! Here's to many more years to come!

CANADA LAND!!
Posted by thealmightym
Page is up a little late today because I am currently in the far off land of Canada attending the wedding of one of my old friends and I forgot to upload the flats before I left. Thank god for hotel wifi and DropBox! Just a few days left on this trip and then it's back to grindstone and cranking out pages in preparation for printing!
